Due to expansion, our client is looking for a Building Surveyor to join their existing and growing team. As the Building Surveyor, you will be carrying out property assessments across residential and commercial sites. This role combines fieldwork with structured reporting, making it ideal for someone who enjoys being on the road, engaging with different types of buildings, and translating observations into clear, professional reports.
As the Building Surveyor, you will be responsible for:
- Conducting surveys of homes and businesses, assessing the fabric and condition of buildings.
- Evaluating properties for projects such as change of use, extensions, or refurbishments. Accurately recording findings, measurements, and observations during site visits.
- Producing 6–7 reports per week using company templates.
- Ensuring reports are clear, detailed, and aligned with professional standards.
- Submitting reports for review by a Chartered Surveyor.
- Spending around 3 days per week on-site conducting surveys.
- Travelling within the region, with occasional assignments across the country.
- Working closely with Chartered Surveyors and project teams to support planning and compliance decisions.
- Providing reliable input that informs design, renovation, and regulatory processes.
As the Building Surveyor, you will have:
- Strong understanding of building fabric, structure, and materials.
- Comfortable with regular travel and working independently on-site.
- Excellent note-taking and report-writing skills.
- Organised, detail-oriented, and able to follow structured templates.
- Professional communication skills with clients and colleagues.
- Background in surveying, construction, or building assessments preferred.
- Knowledge of building regulations and property structures advantageous.
