Our client in Harlow, a well-established and growing business, is looking for an Auto Engineer to join its close-knit team. As an Auto Engineer, you'll be responsible for installing electrical components and a wide range of aftermarket accessories into commercial vehicles. You'll work on everything from dash cams and security systems through to HGV safety equipment, custom conversions and vehicle racking.
This role is open to experienced and semi-experienced candidates, with training provided for the right person.
Key Responsibilities for the Auto Engineer:
- Fitting, checking and testing electrical components and aftermarket accessories
- Installing security locks, tow bars, roof bars, racks and air vents
- Installing alarms, trackers, dash cams, reverse cameras and sensors
- Fitting FORS camera and safety systems
- Carrying out custom conversions and fabrication work, including ply lining and racking
- Vehicle lighting and internal racking installations
- Spray lining and Ionics installations and repairs
- Warranty work and electrical fault finding
- Fitting a range of other light commercial vehicle accessories as required
Skills required for the Auto Engineer:
- Good practical and mechanical skills
- Ability to read electrical wiring diagrams and fitting instructions
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Full, clean UK driving licence with at least 3 years' driving experience
- Experience driving a short-wheelbase (SWB) commercial vehicle
- Own hand tools, with specialist tools provided xgikmsk
- Previous experience in auto electrical work
