Our client is seeking an experienced Contract Technical Author Lead to develop Service Design Packs (ITIL3) for Voice & Video Services. This role involves close collaboration with Users, Defence Digital Eng Operations staff, and the Fixed Connectivity Team in Corsham to create service-oriented documentation for live services. The working arrangement will be 3 days/week on site with some travel to Henlow.
Key Responsibilities
- User-Centred Documentation - Simplify complex technical concepts for a specialist audience, including developers, technical architects, and technology leaders.
- Team Leadership & Quality Assurance - Direct a team of technical writers, ensuring high-quality documentation and alignment with strategic goals.
- Standardisation & Process Improvement - Establish standardised tools, processes, and communication methods.
- Stakeholder Collaboration - Work closely with service managers, technology leaders, and senior stakeholders to allocate resources, resolve challenges, and promote technical writing best practices.
- Delivery & Evaluation - Identify and implement the best processes or delivery methods, measuring and evaluating outcomes.
- Strategy & Roadmap Development - Lead the design and implementation of documentation strategies, including producing the ‘as-built’ solution specification and the Voice & Video Product Roadmap(s) for the Product Owner.
Essential Requirements
- Prototyping Knowledge - Understanding when and how to use specific prototyping techniques.
- Technical Expertise - Knowledge of technologies used to build and operate digital services.
- Content Creation Experience - Experience developing and iterating content across multiple channels.
- Networking & Bearer Services - Familiarity with strategic networks and bearer services.
- Legacy & New System Integration - Experience navigating the challenges of transitioning between legacy and new systems, especially in high-security environments.
- Complex Environments - Ability to work in environments with stringent security controls.
- System/Service Development - Experience developing systems, solutions, or services as part of larger capabilities.
