Overview
We are seeking a capable and hands‑on Systems (Network) Engineer to support a specialist SP Capability programme operating at the front edge of a deployable communications suite. This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical networking background who enjoys working in dynamic operational environments and collaborating with a range of internal and external stakeholders. The position will suit a practical, solutions‑focused engineer who is comfortable working across multiple technical areas within a communications and systems integration environment. It would also be particularly well suited to individuals transitioning from the UK Armed Forces, especially those with technician‑level experience in communications, networking or information systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide systems engineering and technical support across a deployable communications capability.
- Configure, maintain and troubleshoot network infrastructure, including Cisco‑based technologies.
- Work closely with engineering, operational and programme stakeholders to ensure systems meet operational requirements.
- Support the integration, testing and deployment of communications equipment and associated technologies.
- Act as a hands‑on technical generalist, contributing across networking, systems configuration and operational troubleshooting.
- Engage with multiple teams across the programme to ensure smooth delivery and system performance.
- Participate in system upgrades, maintenance activities and technical improvements.
- Contribute to technical documentation, operational procedures and engineering best practices.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong experience as a Systems or Network Engineer.
- Cisco networking knowledge, ideally with CCNA certification OR equivalent experience.
- Experience working in Defence or secure government environments.
- Ability to operate as a hands‑on engineer in a complex technical environment.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Desirable Experience
- Experience with MAB (Mounted or Mobile Applications/Architecture) environments.
- Background working with deployable communications systems or operational infrastructure.
- Previous military service, particularly within communications, CIS, signals or technical trades.
Working Pattern
Based primarily at Site A in the West Midlands, typically 2–3 days per week onsite. Remaining time can be spent working via London arrangements. Flexibility may be required depending on project and operational demands.
