Senior Cyber Security Engineer โ€“ 12 Month Contract.

Hybrid Working (Remote / London).

Defence Programme | 12-Month Contract.

Senior Security Engineer (Contract) on a major digital transformation programme to strengthen cyber security operations across a large-scale enterprise.

This opportunity targets experienced cyber security professionals with experience in Security Operations Centres (SOC), cyber defence, security monitoring or cyber engineering, ideally from Defence, Government or Critical National Infrastructure sectors, including those transitioning from the Armed Forces.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement, configure and optimise enterprise security monitoring platforms.
  • Enhance threat detection, investigation and incident response capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain security policies, rules and detection use cases.
  • Integrate security tooling to improve automation and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and investigate cyber security alerts and emerging threats.
  • Work closely with technical teams to improve cyber resilience across the organisation.
  • Provide technical guidance on security best practice.
  • Produce clear reporting and recommendations for technical and senior stakeholders.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience in Security Operations Centre (SOC) environments.
  • Cyber Security Engineering experience.
  • Threat Detection and Incident Response.
  • SIEM and security monitoring technologies.
  • Security automation and orchestration.
  • Enterprise cyber security architecture.
  • Knowledge of Palo Alto security technologies (particularly XSIAM) is highly advantageous.
  • Experience in Government, Defence, Law Enforcement or Critical National Infrastructure environments.
  • Ideal Background
  • Experience within UK Armed Forces cyber, communications or information services.
  • Experience in Defence organisations, Central Government, blue light services, or regulated/highly secure environments.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders, solve technical challenges and contribute to continuous improvement of cyber security operations.
