Overview
Our client is a leading demolition and remediation contractor, delivering projects ranging in value from £100k to over £20m. With a directly employed workforce and a modern, in‐house plant fleet, they self‐deliver the majority of their works across sites nationwide. Their continued success is driven by technical expertise, operational excellence, and a strong commitment to quality and safety.
This role is for an experienced Site‐Based Health & Safety Officer to join our client's team on a long‐term contract basis at a major project site in Trawsfynydd, Wales. This role is critical to ensuring that the project is delivered with health, safety, and environmental compliance as the highest priority.
As Health & Safety Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining and monitoring all health and safety requirements on site, promoting a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible working environment, and ensuring full compliance with all relevant legislation and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the site‐based Health & Safety lead for the project, setting a visible personal example at all times.
- Ensure all works are undertaken and completed with Health & Safety as the utmost priority.
- Maintain day‐to‐day liaison with the Client and third‐party stakeholders.
- Prepare and/or review task‐specific Method Statements and Risk Assessments for site operations.
- Monitor site Health & Safety arrangements and advise the Site Manager on compliance and improvements.
- Work with the site management team to develop and implement site‐specific safety and quality control plans.
- Produce Health & Safety Risk Assessments for all site staff, ensuring safe systems of work are adopted.
- Conduct Health & Safety inspections and site audits, recommending remedial actions where required.
- Report on changes in legislation and relevant industry guidance.
- Notify Contracts Directors immediately of any near misses.
- Report all RIDDOR incidents to the Company Health & Safety Manager in line with company procedures.
- Ensure confidentiality of all information obtained during the course of duties.
- Maintain professional competency and comply with company ethical and equal opportunities policies.
- Ability to obtain site‐level security clearance is essential.
Qualifications & Experience
- NVQ Level 6 (or former Level 4) in Occupational Health and Safety, or NEBOSH Diploma.
- CSCS Black Card – Health & Safety Professional (Construction) or Black Card Demolition Manager.
- Valid First Aid qualification.
- Essential experience within the demolition or construction industry.
- Experience working within the nuclear sector is highly desirable.
- Full UK driving licence.
