An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior RF Engineer to join a leading engineering team working on advanced radar and RF systems within the maritime and defence sectors. This role offers the chance to take ownership of key RF and antenna development work packages, supporting cutting‑edge technology programmes in a highly collaborative environment. It would suit someone with a strong background in RF/microwave engineering who enjoys both hands‑on technical work and leading small projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of RF and antenna systems, including internally delivered and subcontracted work packages
  • Design, model and maintain antenna and RF solutions, including product improvements and obsolescence management
  • Derive and manage technical requirements, including verification and validation activities
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing, supply chain, quality teams, suppliers and customers
  • Support production activities, including fault finding, trend analysis and root cause investigation
  • Maintain RF production test solutions and support external design activities
  • Ensure engineering processes and quality standards are adhered to throughout the lifecycle
  • Plan, estimate and manage smaller engineering work packages
  • Maintain clear and accurate technical documentation

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Strong experience in RF/microwave PCB design, including schematic capture and layout review
  • Knowledge of RF components such as power amplifiers, LNAs, filters, mixers, PLLs, circulators and limiters
  • RF system design experience (e.g. cascade analysis)
  • Familiarity with RF test equipment (e.g. spectrum analysers, vector network analysers)
  • Solid understanding of antenna theory, design and testing, including array and printed antennas
  • Experience with design for manufacture and test principles
  • Background working in a production/manufacturing environment (e.g. SMT processes)
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to work independently and within a team
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with Altium or similar PCB design tools
  • Familiarity with RF/antenna modelling tools (e.g. Altair or similar)
  • Experience in radar, communications or defence-related systems
  • Knowledge of digital electronics or power supply design
  • Experience with systems engineering or requirements management
  • Test automation using MATLAB, Python or similar
  • Understanding of EMC and regulatory compliance (e.g. ETSI, FCC, ITU)
  • Current or the ability to gain and hold UK SC Security Clearance
