The Opportunity
We are supporting a confidential defence contracting authority in the appointment of an experienced Benefits Manager for a high-profile programme within a complex public sector environment. This role will suit a former military professional or defence-experienced contractor who understands operating at pace, navigating governance, and delivering assurance in large, transformation-driven organisations.
You will take ownership of the end-to-end benefits lifecycle, ensuring that benefits used to justify investment are credible, measurable, tracked, and ultimately realised - in line with recognised best practice and MOD frameworks.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Providing visible leadership for benefits management across the programme
- Developing and maintaining robust benefits profiles and baselines
- Owning and overseeing the Benefits Realisation Plan, including change control
- Identifying risks to benefits delivery and implementing mitigations
- Tracking, coordinating and reporting benefits through the full maturity lifecycle
- Facilitating benefits mapping workshops and securing stakeholder sign-off
- Engaging confidently with senior leaders, delivery teams and portfolio functions
- Promoting best practice and continuous improvement in benefits management
What We’re Looking For
Essential experience:
- 3–5+ years’ hands-on benefits management experience
- Strong background in Defence and/or the wider public sector
- Proven stakeholder management skills at all levels
- Experience working within large, complex organisations undergoing change
- Excellent analytical, communication and influencing capability
- Ability to operate across organisational boundaries with sound judgement
Desirable:
- Experience working within a PMO, programme or portfolio environment
- Familiarity with MOD tools, governance and assurance processes
Qualifications:
- APMG Benefits Management Practitioner (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential
