My client is looking for an experienced Utility Surveyor to join their growing team, supporting some of the largest UK construction and infrastructure projects. If you have experience with technical equipment, maps, and field operations, this role could be your next mission.

About the Role

As a Utility Surveyor, you will conduct field and office surveys, record underground utilities, and ensure accurate data is delivered to project teams. Your work ensures safety, operational efficiency, and high-quality deliverables on major projects. This role involves travel to sites across the country and hands-on use of modern survey equipment and software. Veterans with engineering, signals, communications, EOD, or technical operations experience will find their skills highly transferable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use modern survey methods and equipment such as total stations, GPS/GNSS, and data collectors.
  • Accurately record underground utility assets and manhole inspection reports.
  • Deliver high-quality survey reports to Project Managers and CAD Operators.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring expectations are met.
  • Support detailed field and office surveying assignments.
  • Check the quality of information collected onsite and ensure smooth transition to deliverables.
  • Maintain all survey equipment in top condition.
  • Lead and mentor junior surveyors both on-site and in the office.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Strong operational discipline, adaptability, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Experience with electromagnetic location, ground penetrating radar, and GPS/GNSS systems.
  • Understanding of utility detection industry practices and standards (PAS 128, TSA).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in teams and communicate with clients onsite.
  • Willingness to travel to various UK sites.
  • Clean and valid manual driving license.
  • Bonus skills: CCTV/Drainage experience, AutoCAD/N4CE, Total Station, GPR post-processing, topographical surveying.

Desirable Qualifications

  • CSCS Card folder (This will be required before starting work)
  • Total Station Experience
  • GPR Post Processing Experience
  • AutoCAD / N4CE experience
  • Topographical Surveying Experience
  • QCF Level 3 or Level 5 for utility mapping
