Overview
Our client is a leading demolition and remediation contractor, delivering projects ranging in value from £100k to over £20m. With a directly workforce and a modern, in-house plant fleet, they self-deliver the majority of their works across sites nationwide. Their continued success is driven by technical expertise, operational excellence, and a strong commitment to quality and safety. This role is for an experienced Estimator to join our client's Estimating Team at their Head Office in Birmingham. The team plays a vital role in supporting business growth by managing all aspects of the tendering process, including cost estimates, programmes, and methodologies for competitive tenders and budget enquiries. This is a key position within the business, contributing directly to the successful acquisition of new work and the ongoing growth of the client.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and review tender information provided by client teams.
- Work closely with the Bid Manager to define tender deliverables.
- Undertake site visits to fully understand and assess works to be priced.
- Collaborate with CAD technicians to develop methods of work and programmes.
- Identify specialist subcontract packages and obtain competitive quotations.
- Analyse subcontract quotations to manage risk and opportunity effectively.
- Measure works and prepare basic Bills of Quantities.
- Price works from first principles, including labour, plant, and materials.
- Price site preliminaries accurately.
- Develop basic programmes with support from operational teams.
- Attend adjudication meetings and revise bids in line with management input.
- Manage and respond to post-tender client queries.
- Ensure accurate record keeping and hand over secured tenders to live project teams.

- Proven experience within the demolition and/or construction industry.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving ability with a proactive approach.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Sound scheduling knowledge.
- Strong customer-facing and stakeholder management skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage workloads effectively and meet deadlines.
