Are you the person everyone knows? - Not because of your rank or job title, but because you build trusted relationships, open doors and make things happen. DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS RECRUITMENT CONSULTANCY, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO REPRESENT INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE EX MILITARY.
We're supporting a confidential, globally recognised defence and technology organisation as it invests heavily in expanding its presence within the German defence market. This is a rare opportunity to become one of the first commercial hires in Germany, helping shape and grow a long-term European business. This isn't a role for someone who wants to inherit a customer base or manage existing accounts. It’s for someone who enjoys being in front of people, spotting opportunities before anyone else, connecting the right stakeholders and turning conversations into strategic partnerships.
If you've served in the military and successfully transitioned into defence industry, procurement, programme delivery or commercial business development, we'd particularly like to hear from you. Equally, exceptional civilian candidates with the right defence background and network are encouraged to apply.
Working with significant autonomy, you'll be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities across the German defence sector. You'll engage with senior military leaders, government stakeholders, procurement organisations and prime contractors to position the business for future programmes and long-term growth. This is a genuine opportunity to build something from the ground up. Success in the role will create the platform for future leadership responsibility as the German operation expands.
What You'll Be Doing
- Developing and executing business development and market engagement strategies across Germany.
- Building trusted relationships throughout the defence community.
- Identifying, qualifying and developing new opportunities.
- Supporting capture planning, bid strategy and proposal activity.
- Representing the organisation at industry events, defence exhibitions and stakeholder meetings.
- Working closely with UK and wider European leadership to support NATO-aligned and international defence programmes.
You'll likely bring a combination of Former Armed Forces, defence procurement or government defence experience, experience within the defence industry in business development, capture, sales or strategic partnerships - knowledge of one or more of:
- Defence logistics – Sustainment
- Missile or air defence
- Defence infrastructure
- Military systems support
- Autonomy or advanced defence technologies
Essential Requirements
- Fluent German and strong English language skills.
- German national or eligible to work within the EU.
- Proven experience developing business within the defence sector.
- Existing relationships across the German defence market.
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
You'll be joining an internationally respected defence technology organisation at an exciting stage of its European growth. Rather than maintaining an established business, you'll help create one.
Please note due to confidentiality the excellent salary can be disclosed at the point of candidate’s application. Please send a copy of your CV with a note outlining why this would be the ideal opportunity for you to Liz Walsh at Ex-Mil Recruitment Ltd.
