Job Description
The Accounts Apprentice is responsible for providing efficient and effective administrative support to the Finance Team. The role performs a wide variety of functions to fulfil its many objectives, whilst ensuring a high level of customer service is delivered both internally and externally.
As part of the requirement of the role, there will be the expectation that you would undertake Accounts (AAT) Apprenticeship. In return, we will support you to develop your skills and obtain knowledge through a combination of hands-on role activity and study via the training provider.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
- Entering Service Charge budget detail, and creating on account periodic charges.
- Managing and invoicing of monthly collections on the Rent accounts.
- Monitor and reconcile the Rent bank account on a weekly basis.
- Dealing with requests and queries from property managers.
- Handling customer queries by telephone and e-mail.
- To generally assist with all other accounts related activities where necessary.
- Applying balancing charges and credits and issuing demands as necessary once the year end accounts are available.
- Ensure our accounts system is kept up to date and invoices are inputted correctly onto our accounts system.
- Processing daily receipts from internet banking into accounting software.
- Covering daily banking, customer receipts and processing cheque payments to suppliers as required.
- Monthly reconciliation of individual designated client bank accounts.
- Processing supplier payments through our batch BACS payment system, providing supplier remittances and filing of paid supplier invoices.
- Provide excellent communication (telephone, email and correspondence) with customers.
- Any other tasks that may be reasonably expected of the role including some general administrative tasks.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential Skills
- Personable, with a strength of character to deal with challenging suppliers whilst having a flexible approach to achieve business and/or client needs.
- Naturally inquisitive with an ability to interrogate and develop internal systems and processes with continuous improvement techniques.
- Attention to detail, whilst ability to keep perspective and make informed decisions.
- An excellent communicator (oral and written).
- Highly computer literate, including intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
Desirable Skills
- Proven experience within an office-based environment.
- Client focussed, organised, self-motivated, with ability to use own initiative and work to tight deadlines.
- Ideally have experience within the finance / accountancy sector.
- AAT Part Qualified, or keen to work towards.
Qualifications & Education
Ideally educated to GCSE (or equivalent) standard, with minimum GCSE grades A-C in English & Maths.
