An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Cyber Security and IT Manager to join a major international infrastructure project that is creating the first direct power link between Europe and Great Britain. This energy initiative is one of the largest of its kind globally, and will play a vital role in enhancing energy security, integrating renewables, and supporting the European energy transition.
With construction well underway, the project is now seeking a dedicated professional to lead its cyber security and IT strategy through delivery and into operations. You’ll be joining a highly motivated international team of around 30 professionals based in the UK and Germany.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive cyber security strategy aligned with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Build and maintain an ISO/IEC 27001-compliant Information Security Management System (ISMS).
- Ensure compliance with UK and German regulations including NIS/NIS2 and IT-SiKat.
- Lead cyber risk management, incident response, and business continuity planning.
- Oversee outsourced IT and cyber security services, including contract and SLA management.
- Advise senior leadership on cyber and IT matters, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer.
- Coordinate with regulators and ensure readiness for inspections and reporting.
- Promote cyber awareness and deliver internal training across the organisation.
- Strong knowledge of cyber security frameworks (e.g. ISO/IEC 27001), governance, and risk management.
- Proven experience implementing ISMS and managing outsourced IT/security services.
- Familiarity with NIS/NIS2 obligations and regulatory compliance in the UK and Germany.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience in the energy or utilities sector is advantageous but not essential.
- Fluency in English required; German language skills are a plus.
- The role is based in London with flexible working arrangements.
- Occasional travel to UK and German sites will be required.
- An on-call function may be required post-operations.
