We are seeking an experienced Project Finance Manager to lead the financial management of complex projects from initial planning through to completion. This role will provide commercial insight, financial control and strategic support across a varied project portfolio, helping ensure that projects are delivered within approved budgets, timelines and risk parameters. The successful candidate will work closely with project leaders, finance colleagues, commercial teams and external stakeholders to support informed decision-making and strong financial performance.
Key responsibilities will include preparing project budgets, forecasts, cash-flow projections and financial reports; monitoring expenditure, commitments, revenue and profitability; and investigating variances, risks and emerging cost pressures. You will establish effective financial controls, maintain accurate project records and provide clear analysis for project reviews and governance meetings. The role will also involve supporting business cases, investment appraisals, procurement and contract decisions, as well as reviewing change requests, claims and commercial impacts. You will contribute to continuous improvement by developing reporting processes, improving data quality and promoting consistent financial management practices across projects.
Applicants should have proven experience in project finance, financial planning, management accounting or a comparable commercial environment, ideally within a project-led, infrastructure, property, engineering or professional services setting. A recognised accounting qualification or significant progress towards one is desirable, alongside strong Excel and financial modelling skills. You will be comfortable working with project management and finance systems, interpreting complex information and presenting clear recommendations to both financial and non-financial audiences. Excellent organisation, attention to detail and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to manage competing priorities, challenge constructively and build effective relationships at all levels. A proactive, commercially minded approach and a commitment to delivering accurate, timely and practical financial support will be highly valued.
