Overview
The key purpose for this role is to develop and maintain health and safety and environmental standards within Evtec Superlight along with proactive management & co-ordination of site facilities. This includes managing day to day site maintenance, including subcontractors providing services i.e electricians, plumbers, builders etc.
Additionally you will have overall responsibility of implementation and continual improvement of the quality management system to ensure compliance with all company certifications/accreditations. To provide yearly budgets to senior leadership team in respect of the above activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Working with and training all employees to develop, implement, manage, monitor and improve the quality. health, safety and environmental standards in the workplace.
- Investigating/ recording incidents, accidents, complaints and cases of ill health, and undertaking risk assessments and site inspections.
- Ensuring that equipment is installed correctly/ safely whilst identifying potential hazards and determining ways of reducing risks
- Writing internal health and safety policies / strategies and drawing up safe operational practices and enforcing necessary changes liaising across all areas of the business.
- Writing safety reports & safety bulletins along with identifying and arranging health & safety training for all staff including first aid, fire marshals, crane and lifting equipment
- Keeping up to date with latest standards and legislation to ensure compliance with various certifications/accreditations.
- To arrange and liaise with 3rd party providers for facilities such as fire extinguishers, fire alarms, forklift truck inspections etc
- To have control of contractors on site including signing off RAMS paperwork
- To communicate any facilities issues, and seek quotes for external work
- To maintain a facilities maintenance budget and report this to the senior leadership team on a regular basis.
- Ensure that all business personnel are trained in line with all H&S compliance & legislative requirements.
- To lead a team of site cleaners in the upkeep of all facilities from a hygiene perspective.
Desired Competencies & Qualifications
- Assertive with good interpersonal skills
- IT Literate including use of word, excel & outlook
- A continuous improvement approach that is process driven with safety at the forefront of any changes.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritise autonomously or with little supervision.
- NEBOSH Certificate (National Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health) or equivalent
Desired Knowledge/Experience
- Experience & working knowledge of ISO9001, ISO45001 & ISO14001 is essential
- Previous experience in a H&S role with thorough understanding of applicable legislation in a production environment.
- Knowledge of COSHH, RIDDOR & accident reporting requirements
- Previous experience conducting internal audits is desirable
