The role of Senior Engineer:
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Senior Engineer is responsible for delivering the successful, cost-effective and timely introduction of new customer products from order placement to production buy off, and customer acceptance. They will mentor members of the engineering team to apply best project management and process implementation/improvement practices, ensuring customer satisfaction at all times. They will be the initial point of escalation for all engineering activities and will manage the team to ensure the correct fulfilment of all customer requirements and industry standards, thereby assisting the generation of new business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hold a recognised engineering qualification with proven experience in leading or managing a team of Engineers.
- Work alongside the Engineering Manager to plan and allocate engineering tasks to ensure delivery of project requirements.
- Mentor Engineers to resolve issues or remove roadblocks, escalating appropriately within the company, customer, or supplier.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding product development and project status. Build strong customer relationships and attend review meetings to support Project Engineers in progressing activities.
- Track and report project status, ensuring on time delivery and the achievement of quality targets throughout all stages of development.
- Ensure compliance with internal and customer requirements for engineering drawings and documentation (e.g., PSW, PPAP) while maintaining robust document control, particularly related to change management.
- Drive Continuous Improvement activities across manufacturing processes.
- Support all aspects of personnel management within the department, including annual appraisals, performance management, and identifying or arranging appropriate training.
- Promote and embed 6S methodology within the engineering function and ensure high standards of housekeeping by the time projects are handed over to production.
- Provide support to other Managers regarding project expectations to enable accurate operational planning.
- Support the company in the development of new products and processes to enhance competitiveness and promote new business opportunities.
- Support the introduction of new technologies and processes to strengthen Evtec's capabilities as a supplier.
What We’re Looking For:
- Essential: Strong understanding of APQP & PPAP principles
- Essential: Understanding of Automotive processes and procedures (IATF16949)
- Essential: Ability to create and manage timing plans (MS Project or equivalent).
- Desirable: Experience working for a Tier 1 Automotive supplier
- Desirable: Experience of working within a manufacturing environment.
