Under the direction of the Group Stores Team Leader, or designate, the Despatch Team Leader works within a team environment to take overall responsibility for the despatching of finished goods to the customer. The Despatch Team are integral to the success of the business revenue each day. The team work closely together to provide a friendly and reliable service to the business, with a focus on customer service and delivery. This role is multi-functioning across all areas of Despatch, and goods-in which include covering for absence within the department. Core Responsibilities Management of the team and all day-to-day activities of the despatch function. Working with production to ensure finished goods are coming through to stores as planned to be despatched in line with customer schedules. Stock control and management of packaging and containers within the business, including CHEP & GEFCO reconciliations Participate in cross-functional teams in the development of the ERP system and new technologies real time accuracy of data as well as developments to support on quality & efficiency improvements To oversee the Brexit customs process from end to end As part of the end-to-end Despatch process, addressing invoice queries promptly and efficiently Provides concise, complete, and accurate documentation as required Participate in lean manufacturing activities and contribute to process improvements including product flow and process organisation/ layout Address Customer concerns: prepare responses as appropriate to the customer and understand and implement customers quality standards. Managing, evaluating, and reporting on warehouse productivity. Provide a safe working environment, adhering to Health, Safety and Environmental procedures and ensuring they are understood and practised by the team at all times Supervise and control order picking, goods in, goods out operations to ensure accuracy with minimum handling and stock damage Participate in the organisation and implementation of stock takes at regular intervals Ensure security of Warehouse environment and maintain access control, ensuring 5S housekeeping standards are maintained at all times In conjunction with the Group Stores Team Leader, implement warehouse and management systems and working practices in line with best practice and continuous improvement Control of Fork-Lift Truck management to ensure full operational capacity and achieve daily targets Key Business Priorities for Role (inc KPI and Targets) Effective functioning of the despatch function to support OTIF Full compliance with customs regulations (post Brexit) Stock accuracy Personal Profile High accuracy in all work completed Pragmatic, hands-on approach to get tasks done on time and to the standard required Positive team player to be able to work effectively with other relevant departments in the business Good IT skills including ERP/MRP systems and MS Office Trained and competent to use fork-lift trucks (or has the capability to be trained to) Good customer service skills to deal with any issues as they arise
