You will work across both office and production environments, helping to ensure that business-critical IT systems remain secure, reliable and available.
Applicants must have previous experience supporting IT within a manufacturing, production or industrial environment.
The Role
As IT Systems Engineer, you will provide day-to-day technical support while taking responsibility for the maintenance and improvement of core IT systems and infrastructure. Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID, Teams, SharePoint and user access
- Maintaining and troubleshooting servers, networks, switches, firewalls, VPNs, Wi-Fi, DNS, DHCP and related infrastructure
- Providing technical support across desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, telephony and business applications
- Supporting virtualisation, backups, endpoint security, patching, device compliance and cyber security activities
- Contributing to IT projects including infrastructure upgrades, migrations, application rollouts and system improvements
- Working with internal stakeholders, external IT providers and software vendors to resolve issues and maintain reliable IT services
What We’re Looking For
The IT Systems Engineer should come from a strong hands-on systems, infrastructure or senior technical support background and be comfortable working across a broad IT environment. We would also be interested in candidates currently working as Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, Senior IT Engineer, IT Support Engineer or Systems Administrator where they have the appropriate level of technical infrastructure experience. You should have:
- Previous IT experience within a manufacturing, production or industrial environment
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory and/or Entra ID
- Experience supporting networks, firewalls, VPNs, Wi-Fi, DNS, DHCP and related infrastructure
- Experience with servers, virtualisation, backups and endpoint management
- A practical understanding of cyber security, access management, patching and vulnerability remediation
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to support both technical and non-technical users
Experience with technologies such as VMware, Veeam, Mobile Device Management and VLANs would be beneficial.
The Person
This role would suit an IT Systems Engineer who enjoys being technically hands-on and working across a varied infrastructure environment. You should be comfortable diagnosing problems independently, supporting users directly and taking ownership of technical issues through to resolution. You will also need to understand the importance of IT reliability within a manufacturing or production environment where system availability can directly affect operations. A practical approach, strong communication skills and the ability to balance day-to-day support with infrastructure improvements and project work will be important. For an experienced IT Systems Engineer looking for a broad technical role within a manufacturing environment, this offers the opportunity to work across infrastructure, systems, security and continuous improvement.
