We are recruiting an experienced IT Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day IT environment of an established manufacturing business in Norfolk. This is a hands-on IT Manager position rather than a purely people-management role. You will take ownership of local IT systems and infrastructure while remaining involved in technical support, troubleshooting, security and improvement projects.
Applicants must have previous experience supporting IT within a manufacturing, production or industrial environment, where reliable systems have a direct impact on day-to-day operations.
The Role
As IT Manager, you will be responsible for the effective operation, reliability and continued improvement of the site’s IT environment. Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing and supporting IT infrastructure, networks, hardware, software and business-critical systems
- Providing hands-on technical support and resolving escalated infrastructure and systems issues
- Supporting Microsoft 365, Windows, Active Directory, Entra ID, servers, networking and endpoint devices
- Supporting areas including virtualisation, backups, firewalls, access management and cyber security
- Managing system changes, infrastructure improvements, upgrades and IT projects
- Working with internal stakeholders, external suppliers and support providers to maintain reliable IT services
What We’re Looking For
The IT Manager will ideally have progressed from a hands-on infrastructure, systems administration or senior IT support background and now be operating at senior technical or management level. We would also be interested in candidates currently working as Infrastructure Manager, IT Systems Manager, Senior Infrastructure Engineer, Senior Systems Engineer or IT Team Leader where the role still involves significant hands-on technical responsibility. You should have:
- Previous experience supporting IT within a manufacturing, production or industrial environment
- Previous IT management, senior infrastructure, systems administration or technical leadership experience
- Strong hands-on knowledge of Microsoft 365, Windows and Active Directory and/or Entra ID
- Experience supporting networks, servers, virtualisation, backups, firewalls and endpoint technologies
- Experience supporting business-critical systems such as ERP, CRM or other operational applications
- The ability to balance day-to-day technical support with projects, suppliers, cyber security and longer-term IT improvements
Experience working in an environment where IT systems directly support production, engineering, operations or manufacturing processes is essential.
