An exciting opportunity has arisen for a practical and innovative engineer to join a progressive agricultural business operating across food production, renewable energy and farming. This is far more than a traditional maintenance role. We're looking for someone who enjoys understanding how things work, improving existing systems and designing new engineering solutions that increase efficiency and reduce waste.

Working across a diverse engineering environment, you'll support the maintenance, development and continuous improvement of a wide range of mechanical, electrical and automated systems. The Role

  • Maintaining and improving mechanical and electrical plant across the business.
  • Supporting the operation and continuous improvement of renewable energy systems.
  • Fault finding on mechanical, electrical and control systems.
  • Assisting with PLC, HMI and automation programming.
  • Supporting process monitoring and system optimisation.
  • Designing and developing engineering improvements to increase reliability and efficiency.
  • Fabricating and developing bespoke engineering solutions where required.
  • Maintaining utilities including water systems, heating, cooling and pumping equipment.
  • Supporting machinery controls, instrumentation and monitoring systems.
  • Assisting with IT infrastructure, communications and site control systems where appropriate.
  • Recording engineering performance data and contributing to continuous improvement projects.
  • Working across a varied estate supporting both day-to-day maintenance and long-term engineering projects.

About You

We're looking for an engineer with a practical mindset who enjoys solving problems and learning new technologies. Ideally you'll have:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Building Services or a related discipline.
  • Experience within manufacturing, agriculture, food production, utilities, renewable energy or industrial engineering.
  • Good mechanical fault-finding skills.
  • Basic electrical knowledge.
  • Interest in automation, PLCs or control systems.
  • Practical hands-on approach to engineering.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Experience with any of the following would be advantageous but is not essential, as training can be provided:

  • PLC programming.
  • SCADA systems.
  • HMI development.
  • Process engineering.
  • Pumps, motors and instrumentation.
  • Renewable energy systems.
  • CAD or mechanical design.
  • Welding or fabrication.
