Evona - Low Noise Analog Front End Engineer / PCB Design

Location: Bristol, UK (on-site, open to hybrid)

Engagement: Outside IR35 - 3 Months - Full time (40hrs)

Start: Immediate

The opportunity

A fast-growing, venture-backed hardware company is looking for a contract Analog Front End engineer to support its engineering team on-site in Bristol. The focus is analog front end architecture and simulation for a low noise, high-performance design.

The first phase is to reverse engineer an existing PCB. You'll work out how it performs, model it, and set out the architecture and improvements for the next iteration. You'll work alongside a small, senior engineering team and be trusted to work with minimal supervision. This is a short, flexible engagement for someone who can hit the ground running and is comfortable with part-time, shorter-term work.

Key responsibilities

  • Analyse an existing board and reverse engineer the analog signal chain, covering schematic recovery, component identification and design intent
  • Define and refine the analog front end architecture against noise, bandwidth, linearity and stability targets
  • Run detailed circuit-level and system-level simulations, including noise analysis
  • Support component selection and trade-off decisions
  • Review layout for sensitive analog circuitry, covering grounding, stackup, routing and isolation
  • Correlate simulation with bench measurements
  • Document findings, assumptions and recommendations clearly for the wider team
  • Proven experience designing low noise analog circuitry, including signal conditioning, amplification, filtering and ADC interfacing
  • Strong simulation skills in SPICE-based tools (LTspice, PSpice, Cadence or similar)
  • Hands-on experience of multi-layer analog PCBs taken through to working hardware
  • Experience reverse engineering or analysing existing hardware designs
  • Strong grasp of noise sources, precision analog design and signal integrity
  • Able to work independently on-site in Bristol, available immediately
  • Mixed-signal experience
  • Background in space, defence, aerospace, photonics or scientific instrumentation
  • Exposure to RF-adjacent low noise design (RF is not part of this scope)
