Job Summary

The Head of Projects is responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of complex managed networks solution projects.

The lead and mentor a team ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and aligned with business objectives.

Responsible for developing and implementing project management methodologies, identifying and mitigating risks, managing budgets, and collaborating with cross-functional teams including sales, engineering, and operations.

A key focus will be on fostering a high-performance team culture, providing guidance, coaching, and continuous process improvements to enhance project deliver.

They are the primary point of contact for stakeholders, they track project progress, report key metrics, and maintain clear communication with clients and internal teams.

  • Oversee the successful delivery of complex managed network solution projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Define project objectives, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Implement structured project management methodologies to improve efficiency and consistency.
  • Monitor project execution, proactively addressing potential roadblocks and ensuring alignment with client expectations.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks to minimise impact on timelines, budget, and quality.
  • Develop contingency plans and ensure risk management strategies are effectively communicated to all stakeholders.
  • Resolve escalations efficiently, working cross-functionally to address challenges before they impact project delivery.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with sales, engineering, and operations teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Act as the bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, translating requirements into actionable plans.
  • Engage with senior leadership to align project goals with business objectives.
  • Manage project budgets and allocate resources effectively to optimise efficiency and cost control.
  • Track financial performance against project budgets, identifying and addressing any variances.
  • Optimise team workload and resource distribution to maintain productivity.
  • Stakeholder Communication & Reporting
  • Track project progress and provide regular updates to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure clear and effective communication with clients, ensuring their expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Prepare detailed project reports, dashboards, and presentations for executive review.
  • Documentation & Process Improvement
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including plans, reports, and risk logs.
  • Continuously refine and enhance project management processes, leveraging best practices to drive operational excellence.
  • Introduce automation or tools to improve efficiency and visibility across projects.

About you

  • Proven track record in programme management, ideally within technology, networks, or managed services environments.
  • Experience managing multi-million-pound budgets and complex, multi-workstream programmes.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence, engage, and inspire at all levels.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, including experience working with C-suite executives and external partners/customers.
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience in contract management, vendor management, and delivering value against KPIs.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills – able to distil complex programmes into simple, clear messages.
  • Recognised programme/project management certification (e. g., MSP, Prince2, PMP, Agile Programme Management) preferred.
