A game-changing clean-tech company near Tower Bridge is looking for a highly capable Lab Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of its fast-evolving R&D and testing lab. With backing from pioneering founders and cutting-edge, patent-protected technology, this is a rare opportunity to contribute directly to the future of ultra-fast electric vehicle charging.

They\'re aiming to make EV charging as fast and convenient as refuelling a petrol car. They are scaling quickly and are now seeking a safety-first, operationally minded Lab Manager to ensure their technical facility continues to run smoothly, safely, and efficiently.

Your Role:

As Lab Manager, you will have direct responsibility for the management of a multi-disciplinary laboratory and workshop , with a strong emphasis on operational efficiency and health and safety compliance.

You’ll work closely with senior leadership (reporting directly to the COO) and collaborate across technical teams to ensure the workspace, systems and equipment enable high-performance experimentation and testing.

Core Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with H&S standards across all lab and workshop activities, including risk assessments, safe operating procedures, and fire safety.
  • Maintain lab equipment and oversee smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Manage technicians and support staff, creating an organised and collaborative environment.
  • Lead lab set-up activities, including equipment procurement and M&E specification.
  • Support test logistics and battery/chemical handling, including COSHH and DSEAR compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement in workflows, documentation, and lab practices.
  • Serve as the internal contact for audits, inspections, and H&S training.

What We’re Looking For

Required:

  • Proven experience managing a technical, R&D or battery-related laboratory environment.
  • Strong knowledge of health & safety procedures, including COSHH, SOPs, and risk assessments.
  • Organised, communicative, and comfortable leading teams.
  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience in a relevant technical field.

Nice to have:

  • NEBOSH or IOSH certification.
  • Hands-on experience in battery or EV-related labs.
  • Experience with hazardous material storage and supplier coordination.
