An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Shift Technician to join a globally renowned Building Services provider at a high-profile, prestigious site in the City of London. This is a fantastic chance for a skilled Shift Technician to work within a professional on-site engineering team, maintaining a landmark commercial building known for its world-class facilities and high engineering standards. The Role
You will be responsible for delivering both planned and reactive maintenance across critical building systems, ensuring all plant and equipment operate efficiently, safely, and in line with contractual standards. Working as part of a dedicated engineering team, the Shift Technician will play a vital role in maintaining the building’s M&E infrastructure while ensuring exceptional service delivery to the client.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on both mechanical & electrical plant in accordance with maintenance schedules
- Respond to and resolve reactive maintenance tasks across the building, identifying areas for improvement where possible
- Diagnose and repair mechanical & electrical faults to ensure plant remains fully operational
- Monitor and maintain building systems through the Building Management System (BMS) to ensure optimal environmental conditions
- Supervise and coordinate specialist subcontractors on site, ensuring work is carried out safely and to the required standard
- Operate and manage the Permit to Work system, ensuring compliance with health & safety procedures
- Ensure all plant rooms and engineering areas remain safe, secure, and well maintained
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks via the computerised maintenance management system (CMMS)
- Prepare and follow Risk Assessments and Method Statements to ensure safe working practices
- Ensure compliance with site KPIs and SLAs while delivering high-quality service standards
- Support a strong safety culture by producing near-miss reports, risk assessments, and maintaining detailed engineering records
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a motivated Critical Shift Technician with strong technical ability and a proactive approach to maintenance in a high-end commercial environment.
Essential Requirements:
- Electrical or Mechanical qualifications (Level 3 City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent)
- Proven experience working within commercial building services or facilities management
- Strong knowledge of M&E plant and building services systems
- Experience working with BMS and CMMS systems
- Solid understanding of health & safety procedures, permits to work, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) processes
