Evolve Staffing Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Consultant Neurologist to provide a high-quality service in Neurology and General Internal Medicine for patients in Herefordshire and the surrounding areas. This role is vital for maintaining clinical excellence through evidence-based guidelines and robust clinical governance structures. The successful candidate will be a key contributor to multi-disciplinary team (MDT) working, offering expert advice and clinical leadership across the Trust.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Clinical Expertise: Provide expert clinical opinions for the management of acute and chronic neurological disorders.
  • Collaboration: Advise clinical colleagues on matters within your sphere of expertise and support medical, nursing, and managerial staff.
  • Education & Teaching: Carry out medical teaching, examination, and accreditation duties. You will also contribute to the training of nurses, paramedical, and scientific staff.
  • Professional Development: Participate in the formal appraisal of junior medical staff and contribute to postgraduate medical education and CPD.
  • Clinical Governance: Engage in regular medical audits, develop relevant audit projects, and implement evidence-based medicine.
  • Service Management: Support Clinical and Service Unit Directors in developing Neurology and Medical services at our client NHS Trust. This includes participating in Specialty and Service Unit meetings and contributing to the Trust's planning and management processes.
  • Governance Compliance: Work within the framework of policies relevant to Medical staff, participating in annual appraisals, job planning, and revalidation procedures.

Person Specification: Qualifications & Skills

Education & Training (Essential)

  • GMC Registration: Must be on the GMC Specialist Register or eligible for entry within 6 months of the interview date.
  • License to Practice: Hold a valid License to Practice.
  • Qualifications: MB ChB (or equivalent) and MRCP (or equivalent postgraduate general medical experience).
  • Clinical Training: Training and experience equivalent to that required for a UK CCT or CESR.

Experience & Knowledge (Essential)

  • Neurological Expertise: Broad training and experience in all aspects of general neurology.
  • Autonomy: Ability to take responsibility for delivering services without direct supervision.
  • Governance: Broad understanding of clinical governance, evidence-based practice, and clinical audit principles.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written English skills with the ability to present effectively to an audience.
  • Safeguarding: Thorough knowledge of safeguarding protocols for both children and adults.

Desirable Criteria

  • Advanced Education: Post-graduate qualifications such as an MSc, MD, PhD, or Masters in Education.
  • Subspecialty Interest: A specific interest in a subspecialist field within neurology.
  • Research: Recent published clinical research in peer-reviewed journals and the ability to supervise postgraduate research.
