This role provides exceptional flexibility and top-tier pay rates for experienced perioperative nurses who excel in high-acuity surgical anaesthetic environments. As an Anaesthetic Nurse representing Evolve Staffing Ltd, you will work alongside Consultant Anaesthetists, Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs), and surgical teams to deliver safe, evidence-based, and compassionate pre-operative and intraoperative care across a diverse range of elective, emergency, and trauma surgical lists.
Key Responsibilities & Anaesthetic Duties
- Ensure maximum patient safety, precise airway control, and seamless clinical support to the anaesthetist before, during, and immediately following surgical procedures.
- Anaesthetic Workstation & Machine Mastery:
- Perform comprehensive pre-use safety checks on advanced anaesthetic workstations and machines.
- Demonstrate clinical versatility in supporting anaesthetic administration without automated machine reliance.
- Maintain complete operational readiness of difficult airway trolleys and intubation equipment.
- Airway Management & Anaesthetic Administration Support:
- Assist the Consultant Anaesthetist during various anaesthesia types across elective and emergency surgical procedures.
- Execute skilled clinical support during Rapid Sequence Induction (RSI) and emergency surgical airway management.
- Prepare, calculate, and double-check critical intravenous anaesthetic agents and emergency resuscitation drugs.
- Intraoperative Patient Monitoring & Specialty Support:
- Apply invasive and non-invasive physiological monitoring equipment.
- Manage patient positioning safely to prevent nerve injury and pressure ulcers.
- Complete accurate intraoperative documentation and handover records for Post-Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU) / Recovery staff.
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications
- Active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Registered Adult Nurse or registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Operating Department Practitioner (ODP).
- Minimum of 6–12 months post-qualification experience within NHS Operating Theatres as an Anaesthetic Nurse.
- Proven expertise in airway management and emergency resuscitation protocols.
- Valid Right to Work in the United Kingdom.
- Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate registered on the Update Service.
- Full occupational health clearance.
- Two satisfactory professional clinical references covering the last 3 years of nursing practice.
