This general adult psychiatry role is a phenomenal opportunity to provide senior medical leadership within a dynamic mental health environment. The appointed Consultant will be responsible for the assessment and evidence-based treatment of patients experiencing severe mental illnesses (SMI) and acute psychiatric crises, working seamlessly across acute inpatient wards or the Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team (CRHTT).
Core Clinical Responsibilities:
- Provide senior psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and comprehensive treatment planning for general adult patients with complex mental health needs.
- Lead daily clinical reviews and ward rounds, ensuring robust risk assessment and the safe, effective discharge of psychiatric inpatients.
- Fulfil statutory duties under the Mental Health Act, acting as an Approved Clinician (AC) and Section 12 (2) approved doctor for mental health tribunals and assessments.
- Foster a culture of clinical excellence, supervising junior psychiatric trainees and leading MDT meetings to ensure holistic patient recovery.
