Evolve Staffing Ltd. is honoured to be recruiting a Consultant Psychiatrist in Learning Disabilities for a highly specialized NHS mental health trust based in Bristol. This crucial psychiatric role requires a deeply empathetic and clinically astute physician to provide comprehensive care to adults with complex learning disabilities, often accompanied by autism spectrum disorder (ASD), severe mental illness (SMI), or challenging behaviours. You will act as the clinical lead for the Community Learning Disability Team (CLDT), ensuring holistic, patient-centered care.

Core Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Deliver expert psychiatric assessments, diagnoses, and pharmacological management for adults with learning disabilities and co-morbid mental health conditions.
  • Provide strategic clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary CLDT, including psychologists, specialized nurses, and occupational therapists.
  • Act as a designated Approved Clinician (AC) and Section 12 (2) approved doctor under the Mental Health Act, utilizing the Mental Capacity Act effectively.
  • Lead complex case reviews, safeguarding initiatives, and risk management strategies to maintain patient safety in the community and inpatient settings.

Essential Candidate Requirements:

  • Full GMC Registration and entry on the Specialist Register for Psychiatry of Learning Disability.
  • Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent qualification.
