Evolve Staffing Ltd. is currently seeking an experienced and highly skilled Locum Consultant in Plastic Surgery to cover a critical 24-hour shift for our prestigious NHS client hospital in Birmingham. This position is specifically tailored for a Consultant with a strong background in Paediatric Plastic Surgery. This is an intensive on-call placement requiring a clinician who can hit the ground running within a fast-paced clinical environment. While this is currently an ad-hoc requirement, there is significant potential for the successful candidate to be selected for ongoing ad-hoc gaps and future sessions within the department.
Detailed Clinical Responsibilities:
- 24-Hour On-Call Coverage: Providing expert plastic surgery cover (excluding burns, cleft, and craniofacial specialties).
- Clinical Handover: Participating in the 08:00 handover to ensure seamless continuity of patient care.
- Inpatient Care: Conducting thorough ward rounds for all current inpatients within the specialty.
- Trauma Management: Reviewing trauma patients and performing Same Day Care (SDC) assessments for those listed for the PM trauma list.
- Surgical Lists: Leading the PM trauma list (scheduled for 13:30 theatre start).
- Emergency Cover: Managing any other surgical emergencies, including providing cross-specialty cover where clinical expertise is required.
- Non-Resident Status: This is a non-resident on-call shift, requiring availability and rapid response times as per trust protocols.

- This vacancy is strictly for candidates with dedicated Paediatric experience.
- Candidates must submit a Paediatric-focused CV.
- Any CVs that do not explicitly demonstrate Paediatric Plastic Surgery experience will be disregarded by the clinical lead.
- Full GMC Registration with a License to Practice is mandatory.
- Inclusion on the Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery.
- Valid right to work in the UK.
