Lab Technician - Iron Foundry We are currently recruiting for an experienced Lab Technician to join a reputable and growing manufacturer based in Brownhills. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with foundry experience who is looking for stable hours and the chance to secure a permanent position. Hours: 11.00 am - 19.00 pm Monday to Thursday 11.30 am - 20.00 pm Friday * Prepare metal test samples using precision cutting, grinding and polishing techniques for laboratory analysis. * Carry out microstructural examination and identification of nodular graphite in ferrite and pearlite. * Prepare, use and safely store a range of chemicals in accordance with COSHH requirements. * Perform LECO machine analysis to determine carbon and sulphur content in metal samples. * Conduct spectrographic chemical analysis to evaluate elemental composition and percentage content. * Record laboratory data on computer systems, perform mathematical calculations, prepare graphs and interpreted Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts, liaise with the Laboratory Manager and senior colleagues. * Perform tensile testing on pre-engineered specimens to determine yield strength against specified requirements. * Standardise spectrometers daily and completed weekly full calibration of Hilger Poly Vac and ARL 1 Spark 8820 spectrometers. * Complete monthly audit-sample analysis and customer-sample analysis to strict deadlines, maintaining quality and efficiency. * Receive scrap steel deliveries, allocated drivers to the correct bay areas, guided vehicles during tipping, and carry out weekly scrap-steel analysis, reporting any anomalies. * Communicate professionally with colleagues and customers, provide practical suggestions relating to efficiency, equipment breakdowns and health and safety issues Please submit an up to date CV for consideration
