Evolve IT Recruitment is working with a well-regarded financial services organisation in Edinburgh to recruit an experienced Application Support Analyst on an initial 6-month contract. This role sits within a small, specialist application and data support team responsible for maintaining business-critical systems used across the organisation. The immediate focus is on BAU application support, incident resolution, and ensuring service stability, with some exposure to controlled change and improvement activity alongside support.

The role

  • Provide hands-on support across a portfolio of internally developed and integrated applications, with a strong emphasis on Oracle-based systems.
  • Day-to-day application support and incident management.
  • Investigating and resolving production issues, including data fixes and system defects.
  • Root cause analysis and preventative problem resolution.
  • Supporting controlled production releases where required.
  • Maintaining clear support documentation and knowledge transfer material.
  • Working closely with internal technical and business stakeholders to ensure continuity of service.

This is a support-led role, suited to someone comfortable working autonomously in production environments and communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical users.

Required skills & experience:

  • Strong commercial experience in Application Support roles.
  • Oracle & PL/SQL experience (strong SQL and database troubleshooting essential).
  • Proven incident management and root cause analysis capability.
  • Experience supporting business-critical applications in live environments.
  • Clear communication skills and a pragmatic, service-focused mindset.

Desirable:

  • Oracle Forms support or development experience.
  • Exposure to C# / APIs or integrated systems.
  • Financial services or investment data environment experience.

Contract details:

  • Initial 6-month contract.
  • Inside IR35.
  • Umbrella rate c£450 per day.
  • Edinburgh-based (hybrid working 2-3 days onsite).
