Role Purpose

The credit controller will be part of the credit control department, responsible for ensuring payments are made in a timely manner to minimise overdue debt. The post holder will work closely with the operational departments to respond to queries or to resolve disputes.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review the debt ledger on a daily basis and proactively chase overdue payments via phone and email
  • Liaise with internal teams to resolve billing disputes
  • Negotiate and manage payment plans where necessary
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure agreed payment terms are adhered to
  • Recommend appropriate actions for overdue accounts
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all communications
  • Build good working relationships with 3rd party stakeholders
  • Prepare and distribute aged debt reports

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a credit control or cash collection role
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels (both written and verbal)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good time management skills and able to prioritise own workload
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
  • Previous experience working on a finance system
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel

The ideal candidate will have previous credit control or cash collection experience within an office environment.
