School Mentors in Birmingham

Job description

We\'re looking for 2 additional mentors to join our existing team, working in secondary schools with young people in Birmingham.

Passionate and confident, you\'ll work with a caseload of young people with different life stories and experiences, or those who have had challenging times growing up, who need mentoring support and a trusted adult relationship to guide them into making the right choices in school and in life. The work will be on an individual or possibly small group basis, supporting your mentees in a variety of ways, including emotional wellbeing and resilience, confidence and self esteem, and helping to support young people in making the right choices.

You\'ll be working as part of a team of staff supporting young people across the Birmingham area and each mentor will be based in their own secondary school.

As a role model, you will have experience of working with young people in schools and ideally have a sports or activity interest outside of education. Along with this, we are looking for you to ideally have some experience of working with harder to reach groups and young people with challenges in their day to day lives.

We offer a full induction and training package to all our team members, including sponsorship of a university level mentoring qualification in your first year. In addition to this, ongoing training and development opportunities are available with paid time given to complete these, and once qualified, you will be eligible to register for our Leadership Development Programme. We also provide a free uniform and a laptop to use while working for us.
