Job Title:Technical Specification Technologist
Location:Telford (Multiple Sites)
Reporting To: Technical Director
Evolution Foods product a variety of healthy snacking products, these include dried fruit, nut, peanut butter and children’s puree fruit snacks.
Established in the early 00’s, the business has grown significantly employing over 300 staff, producing products for some of the UK’s major Supermarkets. We have recently opened an additional peanut butter site to meet upcoming demands.
We are currently recruiting a Technical Specifications Technologist to join our growing business.
Being a key member of the Technical Team, you will be responsible to ensure compliance with food safety requirements and legality for all products supplied. Integral product development process, attention to detail and organizational skills are essential.
Key Job Functions
- Take the leading role in the management of product launches by supporting the site in the delivery and launch of new and existing product development and operational improvement. Project manage each launch to ensure the company meets its product delivery target assigned by the customer.
- To play an active part in the NPD process, utilising technical expertise to deliver the technical standards expected working closely with internal departments.
- To complete all customer product specifications and ensure artwork generated comply with all legal / food safety / quality requirements.
- Assist in the management of the supplier quality assurance program and specification control.
- To ensure that raw material compliance is regularly reviewed, and approval status is maintained and to ensure information required during 3rd party audits is available and accurate.
- Utilising customer portals, trade associations and external resources to ensure company compliance and emerging new risks or codes of practice are captured in a timely manner
- An active member of the site HACCP team and internal audit team
- Explore new ways of working / technologies to constantly improve systems / processes to produce strong trend data.
- Completion of any technical or quality related projects as required
- Deputise for the team as and when needed
Experience
- At least 2 years’ experience in a food industry role
- Experience in the use and management of customer technical portals and customer specifications and artwork approval processes
- Experience of interpreting and implementing retailer codes of practice
Key Skills
- Food Related Qualification/Food Safety Level and HACCP Level 2
- Internal Auditor Trained (desirable)
- Good time management and self-motivation with the ability to work to deadlines and under pressure
- Excellent Attention to Detail
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
Other
- 25 days holidays plus Bank Holidays (other than Christmas, the company does operate during bank holidays, but you can book off)
- 37.5 working hours per week which are flexible as long as these working hours are achieved. This means, an early finish on a Friday if wanted
