About the role
Due to continued growth in our surgical services, Royston Hospital is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join our Theatre and Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) teams.
Whether your passion is supporting patients throughout their surgical journey in Theatre or providing expert care during recovery in PACU, this is an exciting opportunity to become part of a highly skilled and supportive multidisciplinary team committed to delivering outstanding patient outcomes.
As a Registered Nurse in either Theatre or PACU, you will play a vital role in delivering safe, high-quality patient care throughout the perioperative journey. Both roles are Monday to Friday shifts and full or part-time positions.
Theatre Nurses will:
- Prepare and maintain specialised surgical instruments and equipment
- Scrub, circulate scout and assist during surgical procedures in a range of specilaities
- Communicate critical patient information to the surgical team
- Ensure patient safety and advocate for best practice throughout the perioperative process
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anaesthetists and the wider multidisciplinary team
PACU Nurses will:
- Provide expert post-anaesthetic monitoring and assessment
- Manage patients recovering from surgical procedures and anaesthesia
- Recognise and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
- Deliver compassionate care and support to patients and their families
- Facilitate safe discharge or transfer of patients to the appropriate clinical area
Both roles require practice that aligns with professional nursing standards, the Nursing Council of New Zealand Code of Conduct, and Evolution Healthcare's commitment to excellence in patient care.
Skills And Experiences
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Current New Zealand Nursing Council registration and Annual Practising Certificate
- 2+ years' experience in either Theatre or PACU nursing advantageous
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A commitment to continuous quality improvement and professional development
- The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- A patient-centred approach and passion for delivering exceptional care
