About the role
The Theatre Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for patients. You will also:
- Ensure critical medical history is communicated to the surgical team
- Provide pre- and post-surgery education to patients and their families
- Prepare all the necessary complex instruments and equipment
- Work with the consultant to provide instruments, needles, swabs and other materials as required
- Act as a link between the surgical team and other parts of the theatre and hospital
- Practice will be in line with the code of conduct and professional boundaries of the nursing professional body
This is a permanent position for 64 hours per fortnight and is located at Royston Hospital.
About you
As a Registered Nurse in Theatre, you will be responsible for providing nursing care before, during and after patients undergo a surgical procedure. You will also demonstrate and have the following skills and experiences:
- Registered Nurse with current NZ Nursing Council annual practicing certificate
- Demonstrated nursing experience in a surgical/medical setting preferred
- Committed to continuous quality improvement and personal development
- 2+ years experience in theatre
- Excellence in written and oral communication
- Be a team player
