The design lead will play a vital role in delivering both electronic and physical security systems design packages. You\’ll collaborate closely with our BIM/CAD Technicians and the technical team throughout the process, confidently guiding cross-discipline coordination and making informed decisions as client documentation evolves. It\’s important to ensure that everything aligns perfectly with baseline requirements. We\’re looking for someone with strong problem-solving abilities, a commitment to setting high standards, and an eye for the finer details!
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a strong working relationship with the client, with a clear understanding of project nuances and expectations
- Identify and resolve design issues, offering solutions and improvements
- Approach the project, considering client requirements, installation efficiencies, and overall delivery impact
- Produce base \”spots and dots\” design layouts
- Conduct detailed ironmongery reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Coordinate with other architectural engineering teams, such as Telecoms, to gather and clarify cross‑discipline requirements
- Proactively drive the project forward by defining information needs, timelines, and dependencies
- Work closely with the BIM manager/lead to align on backgrounds, layouts, cable measurements, duct routing, and other model‑related details
- Act as the primary point of contact for all security‑related queries
- Interpret and adapt to evolving client documentation and design direction
- Ensure local regulatory and project‑specific requirements are incorporated into the design
- Perform design validation and drawing reviews, identifying and correcting errors or inconsistencies
- Demonstrate strong understanding of design matrices and other key technical design components
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience as a Security Project Engineer in a Data Centre setting
- Familiarity with CAD is a plus, and experience with Revit would be ideal
- Proficient in Excel and Outlook
- Excellent technical skills and a knack for solving problems
- You should be able to work independently and manage your time effectively
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a commitment to high standards, with careful attention to detail
- Great communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration across teams
