About Us

We are supporting a fast growing SME Manufacturing business based in Yorkshire, supplying high‑quality products to customers across the UK and internationally. As they move into the next phase of growth—expanding their product range, strengthening operations, and investing in new capabilities—they are looking for an experienced, commercially minded CFO to join our senior leadership team.

The Role

As CFO, you will take full ownership of the financial strategy, controls, and performance of the business. You’ll work closely with the CEO and leadership team to support commercial decision‑making, enhance profitability, and ensure robust financial governance.

This is a hands‑on leadership position, ideal for someone who thrives in an SME environment and is comfortable balancing strategic input with day‑to‑day financial management.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the company’s financial strategy, planning, and reporting
• Deliver accurate monthly management accounts and Board reporting
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management, and working capital
• Partner with operations to improve costing accuracy, margins, stock control, and manufacturing performance
• Drive financial insight to support pricing, product development, and capital investment
• Manage and mentor a small finance team, embedding strong financial discipline
• Ensure compliance with UK GAAP, HMRC obligations, audit requirements, and statutory reporting
• Strengthen financial controls, processes, and governance across the business
• Support strategic projects including automation, systems improvements, and potential M&A activity

About You

We’re looking for a proactive, commercially focused finance leader with a strong understanding of manufacturing environments.

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
• Proven experience as CFO, Finance Director, or senior finance leader within manufacturing
• Strong understanding of costing, stock management, supply chain finance, and margin improvement
• Hands‑on operator with the ability to influence at all levels
• Experience in an SME environment with lean teams
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to simplify financial information for operational colleagues
• Experience in an owner‑managed or family‑run business
• ERP/ MRP system experience
• Exposure to continuous improvement/ lean manufacturing
• Experience supporting a business through scale‑up or transformation
