Evolito’s mission is to accelerate the adoption of electric propulsion in aerospace applications in support of a net-zero world. We will help to revolutionise personal mobility and transform our towns and cities with clean, noise-free air transportation. Evolito develops and manufactures class-leading, lightweight, high-power, and high-torque-density electric propulsion systems for a range of aerospace markets, including EVTOL, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and General Aviation. As well as ultra-high performance, low-weight electric motors and controllers, Evolito specialises in high integrity, bespoke battery systems for the aerospace and defence markets. The team is scaling rapidly and has ambitious growth plans over the next twelve to eighteen months.
As part of our current high-growth phase, we are creating our Research and Technology (R&T) team and are looking for a Senior Technical Specialist – System Engineer to join us. The R&T team is responsible for the development of new systems, electric machines and power control electronics in support of new and existing customers. This includes electric propulsion systems, electrical generation systems and power management systems for all-electric and hybrid-electric aircraft.
As the Senior Technical Specialist – Systems, you will be responsible for the concept development and system engineering activities for Research & Technology projects. Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading new system concept activities, including internal technology projects, or customer applications
- Analysing, decomposing and maturing customer requirements and aligning them to activities through the product development lifecycle
- Developing system functional architectures, and supporting documentation
- Engaging with internal stakeholders including Simulation, Analysis, Design (Mechanical, Electrical and Software) and Test & Verification teams
- Lead systems integration validation and verification activities with customers, partners and suppliers, including definition of system test plans and procedures
- Work with the Type Certification Systems Engineering team to develop systems engineering processes for Research & Technology programmes
Skills and experience required:
- Degree or equivalent in electrical, systems engineering (or other relevant technical domain)
- Previous Systems, Applications or Integration Engineer experience throughout the engineering lifecycle
- Familiarity with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) methods
- Experienced with MATLAB/Simulink
- Experience with requirements and lifecycle management tools such as DOORS, Polarion or CodeBeamer
- Ability to deal with system design complexity and degree of ambiguity
- Creative problem solver, with a logical approach to implementing solutions
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
- A flexible approach to work with the desire to thrive in a dynamic, fast-moving environment within a small company
- Self-motivated with the determination to succeed
- UK driving licence and willingness to support off-site test activities in the UK and abroad.
Desirable:
- In-depth knowledge of power electronics, electric motors and controllers
- Experience developing hybrid systems and/or high voltage batteries
- Hands on experience of data acquisition, calibration and control using Vector or similar toolset
- Working knowledge of aerospace safety analysis techniques
- Experience of working within a Tier 1 environment
- Experience of working in the aerospace industry and an appreciation for the Type Certification process
