Evolito develops and manufactures class-leading, lightweight, high-power, and high-torque-density electric propulsion systems for a range of aerospace markets, including EVTOL, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and General Aviation.
As well as ultra-high performance, low-weight electric motors and controllers, Evolito specialises in high integrity, bespoke battery systems for the aerospace and defence markets. The team is scaling rapidly and has ambitious growth plans over the next twelve to eighteen months.
As part of our current high-growth phase, we are looking for a Systems Manager to lead the development, validation, and verification activities of electric propulsion systems, ensuring compliance with SAE ARP4754B guidelines up to Design Assurance Level (DAL) A.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Lead and mentor senior and junior members of the Systems team
- Support new program and system concept design activities, including internal new product developments and customer-driven applications, through the technology roadmap to system/product launch
- Oversee the analysis and management of customer requirements, ensuring traceability and alignment throughout the development lifecycle
- Oversee requirement specifications for flow down to sub-systems and relevant internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure interface control documents are accurately defined and maintained in line with internal specifications and customer expectations
- Collaborate cross-functionally with safety & reliability, simulation, analysis, and mechanical design teams to architect robust and certifiable systems
- Assess system architecture suitability and provide recommendations to optimise performance, reliability, and compliance
- Support integration activities with customers and suppliers, ensuring seamless deployment of electric propulsion systems
- Review system test strategies to confirm traceability and compliance with defined requirements
- Evaluate Validation and Verification (V&V) reports and evidence to support system certification
- Manage resource planning, estimation, and risk mitigation across system engineering activities
- Champion the implementation of Evolito’s Business Management System, covering Product Safety, Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental standards
- Assist the Head of Systems in maintaining regulatory compliance, promoting best practices, and driving continuous process improvement.
Skills and experience required:
- Degree or equivalent in systems engineering or other relevant technical domains
- Demonstrated experience in aerospace systems engineering principles throughout design, development, and delivery (ARP4754A, ARP4761)
- Proven experience in management of a team
- Experience with requirements and lifecycle management tools such as DOORS, Polarion, and codeBeamer
- Ability to deal with system design complexity and ambiguity
- Creative problem solver with a logical approach to implementing solutions
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal), good collaboration skills, and the ability to work effectively across teams
- A flexible approach to work with the desire to thrive in a dynamic, fast-moving environment
- Self-motivated with the determination to succeed
- An interest in continuous professional development and combining experience with new or novel techniques
Desirable:
- Familiarity with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) methods
- Knowledge of propulsion systems, electric motors and control
- Prior experience as a Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE)
- Encouraging the development and use of best practices and supporting process improvement activities.
