The team is scaling rapidly and has ambitious growth plans over the next twelve to eighteen months.

As part of our current high‑growth phase, we are seeking a Test and Verification Electrical Design Engineer to be responsible for defining and delivering the test rig electrical architecture to ensure product quality and manufacturing effectiveness and to drive continuous improvement initiatives and the development of robust, scalable test solutions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Designing electrical architectures for test rigs, including electrical assemblies, instrumentation, communications (e.g. CAN), pneumatic equipment, and systems operating up to 1500V DC.
  • Definition of electrical test rig requirements in line with approved Design Organisation data.
  • Specify, support, and operate test rig control systems (e.g. dynamometers, vibration/shaker systems, EMC and HALT/HASS chambers) for testing electric motors, controllers, and electric drive systems.
  • Ensuring test readiness through appropriate pre‑test assessments covering technical, operational, and safety considerations.
  • Supporting Engineers in the creation of electrical test cases and procedures.
  • Assembly, modification, installation, and soldering of wiring harnesses, looms, connectors, and other electrical assemblies for test instrumentation and commissioning.
  • Leading laboratory electrical equipment maintenance and calibration.
  • Identify and feed back opportunities to improve test rig design, capability, and robustness.
  • Maintaining a strong focus on safety, ensuring compliance with approved safe systems of work and health & safety requirements.
  • Development, review, and maintenance of laboratory procedures and technical documentation.
  • Supporting cross‑functional delivery with software, controls, and hardware electronics teams to deliver integrated test solutions.
  • Authoring technical and project documentation (RFQs, Scopes of Work, Statements of Work) for complex test systems.
  • Managing CAPEX and track cost, quality, schedule, and requirements for test equipment, including commissioning and verification of new facilities.

Skills and experience required:

  • Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Experience with electrical test systems and instrumentation, ideally within aerospace, automotive, or Tier 1 environments.
  • Experience delivering test equipment using structured engineering and requirements management processes (e.g. Codebeamer).
  • Knowledge of dynamometers, test equipment, and control systems for electric motors and powertrain systems.
  • Experience with EMC, vibration/shaker, and HALT/HASS testing of electrical motors, controllers, and drive systems.
  • Working knowledge of high‑voltage electrical systems and applicable health & safety standards.
  • Ability to innovate and develop new approaches to test control and instrumentation.
  • Experience with MATLAB or NI tools for test data analysis, including custom scripting.
  • Strong hands‑on capability in test setup, instrumentation, commissioning, and verification.
  • Experience producing complex project documentation (e.g. Statements of Work).
  • Awareness of aerospace design and development processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good initiative, organisation, and ability to manage priorities under pressure.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Flexible approach, comfortable working in a fast‑moving environment.
  • UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
  • Experience in testing of motors, MCUs or other powertrain systems.
