Evolito's mission is to accelerate the adoption of electric propulsion in aerospace applications in support of a net-zero world. We will help to revolutionise personal mobility and transform our towns and cities with clean, noise-free air transportation.

Evolito develops and manufactures class-leading, lightweight, high-power, and high-torque-density electric propulsion systems for a range of aerospace markets, including EVTOL, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and General Aviation. As well as ultra-high performance, low-weight electric motors and controllers, Evolito specialises in high integrity, bespoke battery systems for the aerospace and defence markets. The team is scaling rapidly and has ambitious growth plans over the next twelve to eighteen months.

As part of our current high-growth phase, we are looking for a Development Engineer to support the design, development, verification, and validation of Evolito's electric propulsion systems. The role involves contributing to the analysis of engineering challenges and applying established methodologies to support the development of solutions that improve system performance, reliability, and compliance. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to activities across the product lifecycle, from concept development through to qualification and certification, ensuring work is delivered in line with defined requirements and engineering standards.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluate all aspects of the design from component to system level to ensure it meets all customer, program and regulatory requirements
  • Plan technical investigations to resolve complex engineering challenges to improve product robustness and maturity
  • Use structured problem solving tools to conduct root cause analysis
  • Support the electric engine development plan to validate and verify program, regulatory and customer requirements
  • Collaborate across design, CAE, simulations, systems, manufacturing, materials and test teams to identify opportunities to deliver design solutions and progress product maturity
  • Support the definition of test specifications required to execute the electric engine development plan
  • Collate validation and verification data across analysis and test to support flight clearance
  • Support the Lead Development Engineer to manage the technical strategy in the face of hardware design updates, failures and learnings, changes to requirements and updated aircraft strategy
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, to progress the electric engine development program through concept development, qualification and flight testing
  • Support data enrichment activities to further the depth of understanding of Evolito's products, capture trends in test data, support analysis and investigate failures.

Skills and experience required:

  • A degree or equivalent in Aerospace, Mechanical or Electronics Engineering
  • Experience in product development and technical investigations with strong analytical approach
  • Familiarity with structured problem solving tools such as DFMEA, PFMEA and 8D
  • Demonstrated track record of engineering ability in an electrical or mechanical discipline
  • Instinctive problem-solving skills coupled with a sound analytical approach
  • A 'self-starter' attitude with energy and enthusiasm, with the ability to thrive in a small business environment
  • Ability to work under pressure while managing conflicting demands against tight deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A flexible approach to work
  • UK driving license and ability to travel both domestically and internationally.

Desirable:

  • Experience of working within a Tier 1 environment is preferred.

Apply now for immediate consideration. We're driven by a shared passion for engineering excellence and sustainable mobility. Our unique technology enables us to fast-track the adoption of electric propulsion in aerospace. By accelerating the growth of electric propulsion, we will help revolutionise personal mobility and transform our towns and cities with clean, noise-free electric air transportation. As part of our growth, we are looking for passionate, talented people to join the team and help transform the way we travel.
