Evolito develops and manufactures class-leading, lightweight, high-power, and high-torque-density electric propulsion systems for a range of aerospace markets, including EVTOL, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and General Aviation.

As well as ultra-high performance, low-weight electric motors and controllers, Evolito specialises in high integrity, bespoke battery systems for the aerospace and defence markets.

The team is scaling rapidly and has ambitious growth plans over the next twelve to eighteen months.

As part of our current high-growth phase, we are looking for a Power Electronics Test Engineer to join the team to validate and verify power electronics design of high voltage three phase inverters for electric propulsion systems.

Key responsibilities will include

  • Develop test systems for, and perform, dynamic switching, loss, and thermal characterisations of Si C MOSFETs and three phase inverters
  • Conduct component and equipment level tests for filter components including DC link capacitors and CM inductors
  • Support test and integration of three phase inverters with motors
  • Support and develop automated calibration of sensors utilised in Evolito propulsion systems
  • Support with commissioning of test equipment including systems under test
  • Support test planning and execution of power electronics systems in accordance with overall program
  • Produce test cases, methods and procedures in accordance with equipment requirement
  • Deliver test reports and documentation to support certification activities and regulatory approvals
  • Lead root‑cause investigations of failures and define corrective actions, coordinating cross‑functional teams and applying structured problem‑solving methodologies.
  • Contribute to the advancement of departmental technologies, capabilities, facilities, and processes
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior engineers within the team.

Skills and experience required

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or equivalent demonstrable industrial experience
  • Previous proven experience in electronics design, preferably within aerospace, defence or automotive industry
  • Strong understanding and experience with wide bandgap switching devices (Si C MOSFETs), gate drive design and protection circuits, and/or the fundamentals of three phase inverter systems
  • Hands‑on experience with power electronics design verification and fault diagnosis
  • Experience with ‘Double Pulse Tests’, MOSFET thermal path characterisation and motor integration tests
  • Experience in parameter validation of wideband gap devices and associated test platforms
  • Experienced with the use of lab equipment such as oscilloscope, function generator, and impedance analyser
  • Working knowledge of Vector CAN tools such as CANape is desirable
  • Proficient in use of MATLAB scripts for data analysis and Altium Designer to read relevant circuit diagrams
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Good collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across teams
  • Instinctive problem‑solving skills coupled with a sound analytical approach
  • A 'self-starter' attitude with the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment
  • Results‑orientated, with a focus on delivering outcomes aligned to business objectives
  • An interest in continuous professional development and combining experience with new or novel techniques
