Key Responsibilities

• Evaluating manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, testing, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
• Supporting manufacturing demand by relieving bottlenecks and problem-solving production constraints; attending breakdowns and reacting efficiently to escalation from manufacturing teams.
• Developing manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
• Improving manufacturing efficiency by analysing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
• Assuring product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished-product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
• Providing manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labour, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
• Preparing product and process reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising information and trends.
• Providing manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests.
• Maintaining product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
• Keeping equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service.
• Completing improvement and development projects by training and guiding other members of the team.

Required Skills and Experience

• Previous proven experience working within a manufacturing environment.
• Good understanding of continuous improvement methods and lean techniques.
• Familiar with process techniques and documentation such as FMEAs, process flows, work instructions, control plans, etc.
• Hands-on experience with bespoke equipment, tooling, and automation.
• Good understanding of design for assembly and manufacturing constraints for high-volume manufacture.
• Confidence dealing with both internal and external customers and suppliers, able to detail requirements and understand issues.
• Strong communication skills (both written and verbal), good collaboration skills, and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Creative problem-solving abilities with an analytical approach to implementation, results-oriented with the ability to deliver business value.
• Self-motivated with the determination to succeed.
• A flexible approach to work with the desire to thrive in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.

Desirable

• A degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent.
• Experience working within an automotive or aerospace Tier1 environment.
• Experience using leading Kaizen events and SixSigma projects.
