Evolito’s mission is to accelerate the adoption of electric propulsion in aerospace applications in support of a net-zero world. We will help to revolutionise personal mobility and transform our towns and cities with clean, noise-free air transportation. Evolito develops and manufactures class-leading, lightweight, high-power, and high-torque-density electric propulsion systems for a range of aerospace markets, including EVTOL, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and General Aviation. As well as ultra-high performance, low-weight electric motors and controllers, Evolito specialises in high-integrity, bespoke battery systems for the aerospace and defence markets. The team is scaling rapidly and has ambitious growth plans over the next twelve to eighteen months.

As part of our current high-growth phase, we are looking for a Senior Production Test Engineer to join the team. Reporting to our Head of Test, you will be responsible for defining and delivering the production test strategy to ensure product quality and manufacturing effectiveness. In addition, you will drive continuous improvement initiatives and lead the development of robust, scalable test solutions.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Author technical and project management documentation (Request for Quotation, Scope of Work, Statement of Work) for delivery of complex test systems in production environment
  • Ownership of tracking CAPEX for specific projects, to ensure these are brought in on time and within cost
  • Lead the data storage and management strategy for production test equipment, ensuring this can integrate as required with other third-party software (MES, test control software, data processing software)
  • Define and track all design and functional requirements of the test equipment in each domain, including areas of Hardware, Software, Data Management, and H&S
  • Plan and conduct suitable verification testing of new equipment and facilities during commissioning phases
  • Manage infrastructure installations through M&E phases
  • Ensure that all operational documentation is complete for Production Operatives
  • Ensure that all H&S activities are completed for the design, build, and commissioning for successful handover of test facilities
  • Provide training on test equipment use and maintenance for test operators and Manufacturing Engineers
  • Ensure that all production test equipment calibration is conducted in line with Evolito's calibration process
  • Lead technical discussions with external suppliers and partners for test equipment procurement and integration
  • Project management and planning of new test facilities delivery within Production
  • Drive innovation in test methodologies and equipment to improve efficiency and reliability
  • Mentoring of junior engineers in delivering complex test systems with third parties
  • Investigate new methods of product testing while keeping Evolito informed with the latest test standards and third-party equipment available on the market
  • Lead across interdepartmental teams, including regular engagement with Design, Production, Quality, HS&E and third-party suppliers.

Skills and experience required:

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering disciplines or equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Knowledge of typical manufacturing test methods and equipment for electrical and mechanical systems
  • Demonstratable knowledge of test facilities operations, including H&S, within potentially hazardous test environments
  • Knowledge of test system control software requirements for production test equipment
  • Knowledge of data management systems and integration of third-party software
  • Working knowledge of H&S standards for production equipment and HaV electrical systems
  • Ability to compile complex project documentation required to align multiple internal and external stakeholders (i.e. - statement of work)
  • Ability to use requirement management tools (eg. Codebeamer) for the delivery of all production test equipment
  • Ability to innovate new and novel methods of production-oriented testing
  • Ability to use MATLAB or NI tools to perform data analysis and ability to create custom analysis scripts
  • Ability to apply aerospace design processes to production test equipment definition and delivery
  • Strong analytical and judgment skills including the ability to troubleshoot and advise on solutions in the area of testing
  • Instinctive problem-solving skills coupled with a sound analytical approach
  • Ability to take on a hands-on approach in test setup and instrumentation/data acquisition, predominantly through commissioning and verification stages of delivery
  • Ability to work under pressure while managing conflicting demands against tight deadlines.
  • Driving a positive approach to problem-solving within a highly dynamic environment
  • Good collaboration skills with ability to work effectively across teams within the organisation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • UK driving license and ability to travel

Desirable:

  • Experience in testing of motors, MCUs or other powertrain systems
  • Experience of working within a Tier 1 environment.
