Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a defined category of spend, working with internal and external stakeholders to assess manufacturability and deliverability of parts.
  • Identify suppliers and appropriate supply routes aligned to production requirements.
  • Manage suppliers through appropriate governance depending on the complexity and criticality of the commodity and/or supplier risk.
  • Negotiate pricing aligned to expected forecast and challenge supplier costs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers within commodity scope and drive deliverables.
  • Own procurement activities for the category of spend, including managing procurement activity in line with production requirements, expediting parts, handling supplier returns, managing supplier KPIs, and resolving invoice queries.
  • Own sourcing and make‑vs‑buy decisions relating to commodity scope with internal stakeholders.
  • Work with operations and planning to align procurement activities to production requirements for both development and production standard manufacturing activity.
  • Support supplier quality approval processes and coordinate open actions on quality deliverables.
  • Manage and resolve any delivery escalation items.
  • Support cost reduction and change management initiatives and be involved with continuous improvement activities.
  • Required Skills and Experience
  • CIPS Level 4 or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment (auto, aero, industrial).
  • Experience working with MRP systems.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Enjoys building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships (internal & external).
  • Proactive, positive, and creative approach to problem solving.
  • Flexible and willing to travel.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience analysing and negotiating open book costing.
  • Good knowledge of a range of manufacturing techniques and processes.
  • Experience negotiating and monitoring long‑term agreements.
