Here at evoke plc, Group Tax is a global function with team members based in the UK, Gibraltar, Romania and the Philippines. In this role you'll be responsible for leading the delivery of indirect tax services across the evoke group, including all aspects of indirect tax compliance (VAT and gaming duties) and tax risk management. You'll also act as an effective business partner, supporting the business with the design and implementation of complex cross‑border supply chain arrangements, business reorganisations and integrations, M&A, as well as leading relationships with relevant stakeholders.

You will be supported by a tax team based in our Finance Shared Service Centre in the Philippines and two indirect tax managers based in Romania and the UK, and responsible for leading the delivery of indirect tax strategy across the evoke group, including all aspects of indirect tax compliance (VAT and gaming duties) and tax risk management.

What you will be doing

  • Responsible for indirect tax compliance globally (VAT and betting and gaming tax returns and filings, payments and enquiries) and ensuring indirect tax risk is being appropriately managed.
  • Monitoring approach to partial exemption, annual adjustment and capital goods scheme filings.
  • Supporting with indirect tax disclosures for group reporting, and liaising with group auditors and managing external relationships with indirect tax advisors.
  • Providing indirect tax advisory services to the business, in particular for new product launches.
  • Identification of indirect tax issues for the group, and development of appropriate controls and processes to mitigate exposure.
  • Supporting with M&A and group restructuring projects from an indirect tax perspective.
  • Management of indirect tax audit and tax litigation related matters, and inputting into HMRC Business Review process.
  • Overseeing the indirect tax processes and control environment to support compliance with internal and external reporting (such as Senior Accounting Officer provisions).

Who we are looking for

  • ACA or CTA qualifications, in depth experience of UK and international indirect tax issues. Experience of the betting and gaming sector is highly desirable.
  • An understanding of the role and challenges of working as a tax professional in a global company, with experience of working as part of an in‑house tax function preferred.
  • Experience of indirect tax with a technical and compliance background.
  • A good communicator, confident and articulate in supporting the business and collaborating with advisers with the ability to quickly understand complex commercial transactions, manage delivery and offer advice.
