We are recruiting on behalf of our client based in Failsworth for a Stock Controller/Forklift driver/Picker to join their logistics and warehouse management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining stock levels, organising inventory, and supporting efficient warehouse operations. The position involves working with various warehouse management systems and analysing data to improve stock accuracy and operational efficiency. You must be computer literate, have experience in picking, and have a valid counter balance licence (not in house). The forklift licence is essential though you will rarely be driving the forklift. Hours are Monday-Friday 7am-15:30pm. (30 minutes unpaid lunch break) - 40 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Stocking and replenishing inventory in designated warehouse areas with attention to safety and organisation standards
- Utilising warehouse management systems such as ERP systems, AS400, and Warehouse Management System (WMS) to track stock movements and update records accurately
- Performing root cause analysis on stock discrepancies or logistical issues to recommend effective solutions
- Managing shipping & receiving processes, including loading/unloading goods with heavy lifting requirements and operating forklifts where certified
- Supporting category management by organising products according to merchandising standards and ensuring optimal stock levels for retail operations
- Assisting with materials handling, stocking, and organisation within the warehouse environment
- Analysing data visualisation reports to support decision-making related to inventory levels, stock rotation, and order fulfilment
- Ensuring compliance with health & safety regulations during all warehouse activities
Qualifications
- Proven experience in warehouse management or stock control roles, preferably within retail or logistics sectors
- Strong data analysis skills with proficiency in Power BI, Tableau, SQL, and ERP systems such as AS400
- Knowledge of category management principles, materials handling techniques, and shipping & receiving procedures
- Ability to operate forklifts safely (certification essential) and perform heavy lifting as required
This is a full time, permanent role that will require a face to face interview with the client.
