Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Regional Engineer to join our Operations team. This role involves supporting customers by providing technical expertise on pump systems, installing engineered solutions on site, and delivering responsive service and maintenance support. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring customers receive reliable equipment and high-quality service, including responding to breakdowns and emergency callouts when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineering & Technical Support
- Assess and report on the suitability of pumping equipment for specific client requirements.
- Install pump systems on customer sites in accordance with project specifications.
- Carry out repairs, servicing, and maintenance on diesel-driven pump equipment.
- Diagnose faults and provide detailed reports to the engineering team.
- Check drawings, designs, materials, and equipment prior to installation to ensure they meet specifications.
- Plan and coordinate engineering work efficiently to minimise downtime for customers.
- Prioritise daily tasks while remaining flexible to respond to urgent breakdowns or emergency callouts.
- Provide technical support and guidance to customers and colleagues.
- Assist with maintenance planning and project-related enquiries.
- Use maintenance management software to track and plan maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental legislation and company procedures.
- Complete and follow risk assessments and method statements before carrying out work.
- Work with the engineering team to ensure the availability of spare parts and equipment.
- Maintain your allocated company vehicle to a high standard.
- Assist with depot activities such as stock checks and audits when required.
- Support repairs and servicing within the depot when not attending customer sites.
Skills & Experience
- Essential
- Previous experience working in a mechanical or engineering environment.
- Knowledge of mechanical and diesel-powered equipment or similar heavy machinery.
- Experience fitting and maintaining manufactured component parts.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage work schedules effectively.
- Good level of physical fitness and understanding of manual handling techniques.
- Full driving licence.
- HNC or City & Guilds qualification in an engineering discipline (mechanical bias preferred).
- Experience with electrical components.
- Experience in the machinery hire industry.
- Industry certifications such as quarry passports or forklift truck licences.
- Driving licence with towing capability.
