Are you an experienced Marine or Mechanical Engineer with a background in complex platforms such as offshore patrol vessels, survey ships, or ice-class vessels? If so, we have an exciting opportunity on behalf of our client to lead technical management for a fleet of polar-capable ships, including an icebreaker and OPVs, operating globally.
About the Role
This position is based in Bristol, offering a flexible hybrid working model - requiring one day a week onsite. The contract, initially until September 2026 with the potential for long-term extension, provides an engaging environment for a senior engineering professional keen to make a real impact in defence maritime operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical oversight for an icebreaker and offshore patrol vessels, ensuring operational readiness in diverse environments, from ice to tropics.
- Manage maintenance periods, including major dockings, repairs, and regeneration projects.
- Resolve complex technical issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement effective corrective actions.
- Oversee Planned Maintenance System (PMS), dry-dockings, and contractor activities worldwide.
- Promote safety, compliance, and assurance consistent with MOD and Class standards.
- Foster strong relationships with shipyards, OEMs, Class societies, and host nation support providers.
- Support and mentor ships staff.
